With more than fifteen years design experience, Luna Sterling is the creative strategist behind Social, a multi-disciplinary agency specialising in fully integrated branding, with an emphasis on social media bottom line outcomes. A maven in her field of expertise, other feathers in her cap include award restaurateur, successfully creating two food and beverage, and entertainment venues, interior designer, videographer, photographer and stylist. Luna has a Bachelor in Business from the Queensland University of Technology and a Bachelor in Design Griffith University. A gypsy at heart, she enjoys traveling far and wide and spends her time between South America and Australia. She's a passionate advocate for community rights and initiatives, lending her voice to raising awareness for numerous causes, in particular environmental impact and animal rights.
Social: the design studio was born out of demand rather than out of necessity, a compelling fact and driving force behind this unique, multi-disciplinary design agency has managed to scale great heights, leaving industry contemporaries and peers pondering on Luna's entrepreneurial Midas touch. The start-up focuses on creating, designing and developing a fully integrated brand and identity for its clients, visually and kinaesthetically, which is resonating in particular with the retail hospitality, entertainment and tourism sectors; the appeal is a brand and identity created and brought to life across print, web and importantly, offline in the design and styling of the venues, for a complete sensory brand experience. The concept of full servicing design and styling as part of brand identity is untapped in Australia and is a service the agency is harnessing as its own 'signature'.
Acknowledged as a maven, Luna has been invited to deliver guest lectures on design for university students at The Sunshine Coast University. The rebrand of client, Caloundra Street Fair, led to the agency's commissioning as brand architects and creative strategists for Destination Caloundra, and Caloundra CBD. A television station's news program interviewed Luna on her design concepts and contributions to the region's success, a remarkable milestone, accelerating her positioning in the community. The start-up's success continues to snowball with an average of three to four new projects and commissions generated from each project acquired. The agency has secured and signed off on its biggest client to date which will require an overarching brand design, identity and styling, resulting from its achievements to date.
In addition to advocating the use of soy inks on printed marketing material and collateral, promoting the use of gloss-free paper in printing and practicing a paperless office where possible, Social is aware of its corporate social responsibilities and is tirelessly altruistic in promoting this through. 'Love Local' a Facebook community page with 4,000+ followers, providing a free spotlight on local businesses and providing a resource for the local community, actioned over ten hours per week.
